Community Information for Columbine Lakers October/November 2008

Boat Deadline

Don't forget all boats and canoes must be removed from community property before November 1, 2008 . Please remember that there is $100.00 initial charge and $25 per month storage fee if your boat has to be removed from community property by a Columbine Lake employee. If you absolutely cannot be here to remove your boat, please contact the manager, Ken Lund at 970-627-8120.

Also, don’t forget that the Boat Lottery for the 2008 season is held at the January Board of Directors meeting. Look for the boat lottery entry forms in the December newsletter.

Winter is Near

As anyone who has been at Columbine Lake the last couple of weekends knows, winter is near. It's time to remind you that if you plan to use your Columbine Lake home this winter, you must make arrangements to have a parking area cleared on your own property. In order to efficiently remove snow from community property, NO PARKING is allowed on our roads, cul-de-sacs, parking lots, or rights of way to include, but not limited to, cars, trucks, snowmobiles, and trailers. Offending vehicles will be towed away at the owner's expense. There is a list of local snow removal contractors at the office.

* Please remember that no ashes are allowed in the community trash dumpster. Please use the metal trashcans provided.

Fences

This summer a number of CLCC owners attempted to construct fences without a permit as required by the Building Criteria. Please remember that all fences must be approved by the ARC. As a general rule CLCC does not promote fences in order to provide for open space and the free passage of animals. If you feel that you have a specific need for a fence, you must get it approved by the ARC. Fence applications are available at the office and on the CLCC website.

DOGS

~ A number of complaints have been received in the office concerning dogs. Remember that all dogs must be on strict voice command control or must be on a leash at all times in our community. This means that your pet must, immediately respond to your voice command and return to your control, especially when it approaches a person or another animal. Barking dogs are irritating in a small quiet neighborhood like ours. Please do not leave your dog unattended, or out in a yard while you are not around. They miss you and will bark almost constantly. Issues with dogs in our community should be reported to the Sheriff’s Department through Dispatch 725-3343.

Board News

~ The second half of the annual assessment is due on November 1 st, 2008 . Don't forget to send your payment in. Unpaid dues will be delinquent on December 1 st, 2008 and a $50.00 per lot late charge will be applied.

~The Board of Directors meets the second Saturday of each month beginning at 8:00 AM at the clubhouse. You are welcome to attend any meeting to express your comments and concerns about our community. It’s always good to hear from fellow owners.

~ Your efforts to keep Columbine Lake area clean and safe are greatly appreciated. There has been a large number of trees taken down from the area; this will continue to help keep our community looking nice and keep our homes safe from fire. Slash needs to be removed from the property and not placed on community property. Thank you for all hard work and efforts toward the removal of dead downed and diseased trees by September 15 th of each year.

Tree Mitigation

~Trees are coming down all around CLCC. A BIG thank you is given to all who are taking action on making our community safe by removing your dead trees. Please keep up the good work. A survey will be done to see what areas still need additional work sometime after September 15, 2008 . It is safe to say, that this will continue to be a concern of the Board of Directors .

~All of us here at Columbine Lake appreciate the beautiful dark, star-filled skies. Please help to preserve our night skies by limiting the use of outside lighting at your home. Please use outside lights only when necessary and do not leave them on all night long. Make sure you turn off outside lights when you leave your home to travel or return to the city. Thanks from all of your neighbors.

The Summer Concert Event

The sixth annual CLCC Summer Concert Event happened on August 16 th at the clubhouse. Outstanding entertainment was provided by Peggy Mann and Brad Prageant. The rain did not keep anyone away. As in the past this was a very successful and fun event for our community.

Take It Slow

Please remember that the speed limit on Columbine Lake roads is 15 miles per hour. Please slow down! There are many children and animals that may run out in the road, as well as walkers. CLCC appreciates your consideration and action on this matter. Also, please remember to tell any contractors or visitors that you have coming into CLCC about our speed limit. Thank you so much for your help in keeping our owners, children, and various animals safe. This speed limit is for all vehicles to include snowmobiles and ATV’s.

More on Trees

The Board of Directors has applied for the 2008 Colorado Western States Wild land Urban Interface Grant. This grant was developed to assist communities in managing the fire hazards unique to their neighborhood. The grant money, if awarded, would help fund hazardous fuel reduction programs such as the Arbor Day removal of slash, and tree removal on community property and replanting new trees. We should be hearing from them on whether we will be getting the grant sometime this winter.

Amendents to Building Criteria #26. Please note changes made to Section 5.02-c, 5.03 heading, c, and e. Section 5.04 heading, a, and c. These changes were adopted October 11, 2008 and can be viewed from the Building Criteria Link on Documents.
